Overview
Writer's Block! Word Game (the "App") is developed by Zerebral Designs, a registered DBA of Zerick Campbell. This policy explains what data the App uses and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
- Gameplay data: scores, XP, streaks, Daily attempts, saved sentences, achievements, and settings are stored locally on your device.
- Anonymous identifier: private online Duet features use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create a random, pseudonymous user ID. We do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
- Duet data: a private Duet session may contain its topic, sentence text, rhyme target, grid seed, completion sentence, and Harmony Score. It is associated only with anonymous user IDs.
- Shared play links: challenge and Daily links contain the puzzle or grid information needed to open the same game. You decide where and with whom to share them. The App does not publish them to a public feed.
- Notifications: if permission is granted, a push token associated with the anonymous user ID may be stored to deliver Duet completion alerts. Local Daily reminders remain on your device.
- Diagnostics: Firebase Crashlytics may receive app and operating-system version, device model, crash details, and pseudonymous installation identifiers needed to diagnose failures.
- Purchases: optional tips are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive or store payment-card information.
How we use data
We use this data to provide gameplay, save progress, enable private two-player Duets, deliver requested notifications, diagnose crashes, and improve reliability. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Third-party services
The App uses Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging, and Crashlytics from Google LLC, plus the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for optional purchases. These providers process data under their own privacy policies.
Sharing and public content
Writer's Block has no public Community feed in this release. Results and play links leave the App only when you choose Share or Challenge. Daily result cards do not reveal the answer.
Children's privacy
The App is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or the applicable age in their jurisdiction. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data.
Retention and deletion
You can erase local data with Reset All Progress in Settings or by uninstalling the App. Private Duet sessions and notification tokens are retained as needed to provide those features. To request deletion of submitted Duet content, contact us.
Your choices
You can disable Daily reminders in Settings, disable push notifications in your device settings, choose whether to share any result or play link, and reset local progress at any time.
Security
We use HTTPS and Firebase security rules to protect data. No electronic storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Changes
We may update this policy as the App changes. The current version will remain available on this page, with its effective date updated when material changes are made.
